WHITE FOREST

BORIS LURIE ART & RESEARCH CENTER, RISD | BROWN      PROFESSOR JULIAN VON DER SCHULENBURG

WINNER OF ARCHITECTURE MASTERPRIZE 2020

Inspired by creating an ambiguous and fluid social space, the concept “White Forest” is developed. The architectural concept, “White Forest,” is achieved by using a forest of columns to create spatial differences. The urban strategy of the project is to create a  wrap that merges with the existing warehouse. The polycarbonate facade mimics the industrial quality of the warehouse with a low profile modern touch. While the courtyard links the old and new, the programs explore the relationship of solid and void. The outcome is a series of flexible spaces that encourage interactions.
